Speaking Of Drinking…

You know you need to work out when you are too weak to pick up your big bottle of booze. Real time pic using the coffee maker (12 cup/full size) for reference. Hey. Don’t judge. We didn’t start at the top. We slowly graduated up to the party version. It’s more economical. Picture proof below. Although I really shouldn’t. It’s embarrassing that we even have all these bottles (we don’t; anymore) and that we took a picture. (The BF did it. I’m just posting it because we are immature.) It’s a nice shot though huh? Super sharp and clear. His new phone takes really good pictures. I’m so jelly. Later.

Blackout Wednesday

November 23, 2011 at 8:26 pm (Day to Day, Holiday) (, , , )

I like that term, “Blackout Wednesday” for tonight’s giant drinking drunken festival way better than “Donor Night.” But I still wouldn’t recommend going out into the world anytime after, well, now. It’s already 6:30 pm here in the Midwest and that means everyone who got off work early today is well on their way to living up to the night’s expectation.

Biggest drinking night of the year. I did a quick internet search to see what’s up with the need to party like there’s no tomorrow right before Thanksgiving. I got: Convenience, because people are already out and they usually get off early and will be off for a few days and it’s just so easy to go have a few with your friends. Economy, because bars have special cheap pricing on drinks that will get you drunk the fastest.  Sorrow, because most people will be stuck with their whole families for the entire weekend and drinking usually dulls the pain. Or sorrow, because you have no family and drinking usually dulls the pain of the dread loneliness. Underage, because people are stupid and lots of college kids come home for the weekend but not before they take a drinking break with all their college friends first. Underage, because teenagers are even stupider and think their parents won’t notice some of that stocked-up-for-Thanksgiving alcohol is missing. The consensus is that college kids are the biggest partiers and also the most likely to be driving around afterwards. They still have to get home after all. It’s dangerous and crazy and I fear for anyone out on the roads tonight.

So I wasn’t really sure what kind of picture to include for this momentous holiday. But then I remembered we had this cool, modified, car/dune-buggy/off-road whatever vehicle that we passed on the street the other day. It just looks like it will roll right over anything you might be in.

Just an fyi: The tanks will be out and the drivers who think they are perfectly ok will be driving them. You will die and they will not be injured at all because they are too drunk to realize that they just killed you.

Be safe and stay alert! YOU will be your best chance of survivng the night if you can see it coming and avoid it! Or better yet, just stay in! We can all gather here tomorrow and wish each other a truly happy Thanksgiving. Until then, have a great night. Safety and sharp eyesight for all! Later.

I guess this picture has everything….

March 17, 2011 at 10:50 am (Day to Day, Football, Pictures) (, , , , , , )

It has green for spring AND St. Patrick’s Day. It symbolizes drinking…(which I plan on doing during this week). It reminds me of football!! It was created by my daughter who made me these green and yellow ice cubes to cheer on the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl! Which I have completely neglected b/c of school. I did watch. They won! (Yay!) and I never said a word! But it was an exciting game. Please go anywhere on the internet and type in the team and I am sure lots of good stories will pop up! Here’s a picture of those green and yellow cubes after you add the drink part. The liquid really doesn’t add anything to the party and it looks the way it would the next day on the way out! Ewwww…but it tasted fine. It’s all sensory perception…

Riding in the Rain

August 1, 2009 at 1:06 pm (Day to Day, Exercise, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

P1050107

So the BF has mapped out a very long 15 mile + trail for us to bike ride on. He has the bike rack on the back of the car. The bikes are ready, with proper tire air and water bottle holders secured. His mileage counter/techy gadget is calibrated and standing by. We are wearing our finest bicycle shorts/racing peddle shoes/tight, wicking t-shirts/fast helmet/goggle combos; aka Lance Armstrong and Co. (Just kidding about the clothes–we live in the suburbs. Of Chicago. We could get our asses kicked riding around town looking like space alien freaks.)

As you may recall, and I see that I typed it last night, I was going running today. 4 miles plus. Which I may do after this “bike ride” the BF wants to do. Our only problem here at the moment is the giant mass of thunderstorms and rain clouds moving across the area this very minute. I have a few choices here.

Just go ride the bikes. It’s chilly and rainy but at least I’ll be moving(??).

Then go run on the trail, after. 3.6 miles will seem so easy then.

Go to the gym. Indoors. Always temperature and weather controlled. (Poop)

Or…STOP eating.

But, since I already devoured 4, yes (shame) four, McDonald’s Breakfast Burrito’s with Hot Picante, while watching Grease 2 (double shame) this morning, it’s probably too late for that option.

My favorite alternative option, since it feels kind of like New Orleans out there; breezy, rainy, Southern tropical; I say we make Hurricanes and sit out on the veranda and drink all day. (We don’t actually have a veranda, but we do have a patio with some very nice plastic Adirondack chairs and a backyard full of grass to look at.) It’s close enough.

And I can’t seem to waste any more time with this post, as I’ve run out of things to embarass myself with. I will be back, much later, with my regular schedule of things you don’t care about.

I have to go lose some calories and be a part of society now.

Last post of the night…

July 31, 2009 at 8:39 pm (Celebrity, Day to Day, Exercise, Home Improvement, Pictures, Windows) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hold on, let me get a drink for this….

Ok. If you read this in any kind of dailyway, I pretty much list off my activities for the day. So, even though I had good intentions when I woke up this morning (early , so that I could watch the WGN Morning News—I even texted what kind of underwear Pat Tomasulo should wear to co-host his first Regis & Kelly Show on Tuesday—sad), basically I did nothing. The road to Hell…

Drank coffee. Bitched and moaned when I had to take the car to the brake shop, which we desperately needed. Grumped about having to go buy windows and stain and rocks for the house to make it look nicer. Hated the lunch I ate, even though I picked the place. Was bored at the Pet Store getting feeders for the cannibal Oscars (which are getting big–I’m going to do a before and after post when I sober up in the morning because I’ll never find the old pictures in this condition). Sat inside and played BeJeweled on the computer and Facebook while the BF cleaned off the roof, gutters and patio in the blazing midday sun. Perked up a little when we had to go get the car, brand new brakes—so nice!–only because I knew we had to go right past a liquor store! Yay! Happily walked around said liquor store picking up various drink items for tonight and tomorrow. Drove car home thinking about making delicious martini’s and laying across the couch like a lump. Sitting here, right now, drinking second martini and typing about the things that I won’t be finishing up tonight. Like…

The laundry.

The kids room. So close too! Got it painted and ready to re-build. Got proof too! See pics below! I was going to save them for the big before and after unveiling, but who am I kidding?? I might not even finish that room now until Sunday or Monday. HA. All I have to do is hang curtains and move the furniture back. Oh Cursed Vodka!!

Another thing I didn’t do was run. And I feel bad about that. It’s been 2 days; three when I wake up tomorrow. (I did paint for those two days—today was just pure lazy) It’s going to suck running around out there for 4 miles, maybe more, as punishment, with a hangover and reeking of booze sweat but I can’t get behind. I have a five mile race in one month and you saw those butt pictures. Eee-yew…did any one else just feel a chill?? Goosebumps. Or giant lumps (of fat in my pants—yuck). I’m not even telling you where those pictures are or linking it. Find it yourself.

What I am going to do though, is finish this up, post those pictures (the walls and windows really did turn out nice–good work SoberLisa!) and make some moves on my BF. (Too much information???)

Like Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, once said (and she totally rocks):

“One drink makes me want to go to bed.

Two drinks makes me want to go to YOUR bed.”

Goodnight, Chicagago!

What do these things have in common? Me, Vodka, and Olives.

July 31, 2009 at 6:59 pm (Day to Day, Drunk Posts, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

This drunken post should be all the answer you need.

It’s Friday. My children are safe, away, with their daddy. Mother Nature has left the building. And I’m as smooth as George Clooney in a roomful of cocktail waitresses at a Vegas Casino. (That’s for Michael K. He’s not a reader, but he’d appreciate the effort)

It’s 6:30 PM Chicago Time and I’m going to hit publish and make Number 2. Wait a minute.

Let me re-type. I’m leaving it though because it’s funny. At least it is when you drink a giant cup of vodka.

Re-phrase: I’m posting, hitting Publish, and making my second Dirty Martini, minus the dirty, the olives and the glass.

And……

Blatant second attempt at generating more traffic tonight. Trying to get Super 3000! And a disturbing dream I had days ago…

July 30, 2009 at 11:04 pm (Day to Day, Unusual) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Read This. My first shameless self-promotion post.

I’ve made it so easy! Time is ticking. I’m feeling a little sickling…Really. I don’t know what it was, or is, but I feel kind of yucky all of the sudden.

Anderson Cooper, on Regis & Kelly today (he filled in) said that no one wants to hear other people’s dreams. Ever. Even close friends and family, he said, “It’s like, no, no, don’t tell me…ugh…too late…bored.”

Kelly disagreed. Some dreams can be interesting, she said.

Well pick a side, because here is one of mine.

I had it 3 or 4 nights ago, but I can’t forget it. It basically starts….fuzzy stuff…and I’m in a garage. At a party. There is a lot of drinking going on. Not by me, but by these three tall guys standing by the open garage door. When suddenly, one of the drinking guys somehow manages to trip the switch that makes the garage door start to close. But he doesn’t move out of the way. He just stands under it watching it come down on top of him. We, on the inside are yelling for him to move, but he’s not. It finally closes right on top of him, and it’s really wide, with some kind of hollow spot, because he’s kind of inside the door itself. But now he’s on the outside so I can’t see him. After a minute, the door raises and there he is, laying on the ground with a huge gash, shaped like a big teardrop on the side of his head near his eye. I rush over to him to help, and one of his friends is pulling it open and closing it with his fingers, saying, “Look at this, look at this!” I said, “Stop doing that!” And I kneel over him, trying to keep him still and he grips my back really tight like he’s trying to hug me, and his eyes are droopy and fading out. I say, “Don’t worry, the paramedics are coming. They’ll get you out of here. Don’t worry.” But he just keeps gripping me, quietly fading out. Then the ambulance arrives and the paramedic says to me, “Man, I love it when you med students are first on the scene, you always clean up everything so nice.” I just glanced over a little and mumbled as they pulled him away from me. They got him in the ambulance and started to drive when I suddenly realized what the paramedic said to me. I turned toward the ambulance and said out loud, “There was no blood! He was drinking and there was no blood.” As if this was very significant. But they were gone and I woke up.

Those words have been going through my head for the last three or four days now. He was drinking and there was no blood. It feels like it means something, but I can’t make the connection.

It’s been a long time since I had a dream that stayed with me this long and so clearly. It’s weird. But does it mean anything? I don’t know.

So what’s the consensus? Dream Talk: good or bad? Any ideas? He was drinking. And there was NO blood.

WTF?!?!? My kids are not far enough away from childhood yet.

July 13, 2009 at 10:24 am (Things The Kids Like, Video) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Monday’s are bad enough. Especially when you stay up too late “studying” (4am) I did give it my best shot, but the kids…the kids…!!

That was my last full night with them until they are off again on more summer adventure! They will be going to their friends house this afternoon and returning on Wednesday. Then, Thursday, they have a friend coming to our house. Friday is my sissy’s birthday!! How old? Not as old as me. Bummer. She and the hubby and the kids will be staying here with us because Saturday, at 7:30 AM is…THE WARRIOR DASH!! Finally! I am planning on having fun, not trying to win or be all super-bad, extreme, athlete…but I am getting a nervous stomach-ache already thinking about this. They sent an e-mail telling us to prepare and don’t be fooled–it really is extreme and dangerous and if you are not careful you will get hurt. That helps. And she says we never do anything for HER birthday! Ha. How about a nice hospital stay?? We can share a room! Kidding.

So the week is kind of booked. I still have my final tomorrow–more nerves–and I tried to read more–but it’s hard when you want to do other fun stuff, staying up with the kids, watching tv, playing on the computer, doing laundry, taking posters and stuff off the wall so we can paint, you know, typical Sunday night stuff. The little quitters crashed out at 1 am, but I go all the way. I crawled into bed just as the BF’s alarm was going off at 4:30. He says, “Are you just coming to bed now?!?” I should have just stayed up. AND, I wasn’t even drinking!

Although after seeing, mostly HEARING this mess below  for the WHOLE WEEKEND, I should have. Sometimes the kids computer search abilities are not appreciated. It’s great that they are getting older and more interested and able to do more things with more resources…and sometimes it’s not.

I don’t know where this came from, I don’t know what it is, why it’s out there right now, and how they found it…but please, make it stop.

It’s obviously geared for the small frys, but 11 and 12 year-olds are not immune. Get ready to have this playing in your head for the next 50 days. I’d apologize, but no one feels sorry for me. The lyrics are included, because you know you are going to want to sing along. Enjoy.

Hey Jesse! This is for you!

July 2, 2009 at 7:55 pm (Day to Day) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

It is Thursday night. July 2. I am finally updating! I have lots of stuff in the hopper. Seriously!

I even have an outdated MJ/Farrah/Billy Mays tribute post. I don’t want to overload an already overloaded internet-web-blog-memory-post-world, but I’m afraid I must. If only to tell the story my sister Amanda doesn’t want anyone to know! Please stay tuned.

I have actually been…busy. For any and all who might actually follow this thing, I had to concentrate on school and some house chores. My kids left for vacation with their grandma, but the BF is off this week too! So we did boyfriend/girlfriend things and family things and exercise things…

WARRIOR DASH! Only 2 weeks away. I have a 15 pound weight loss/fitness regime to get back on track before my kids get home next week.

5.8 pounds already gone, if you care! The secret is:

Workout like mad. Don’t eat crap. Drink water.

Sorry. Sad but true. No gimmicks, no tricks, no pills, no shortcuts. Follow my above plan and you will look and feel better in one week!

The BF is actually out tonight with his buds, catching up with some old friends by means of food and beer, the usual. So here I am. I have all night. I have chapters to read, CPR notes to go over, laundry to wash and dry and fold (blah), and YOU to talk with!

I got pictures and videos and music and maybe a little drink…(very little…in training AND alone). Go get yourself something to drink along with me and keep checking back. Let’s make Thursday the new Friday! At least for this week! Get ready. Get set.

POST!

Ahhh, 4pm Friday Afternoon…

June 12, 2009 at 4:08 pm (Day to Day) (, , , , , , , , , )

It’s 75 degrees south of the City. Sunny and breezy. The kids are gone for the weekend. And I’m trying to decide what to do.

Go to the gym and run 4 miles on the treadmill or kick back with my friend Jack and a Diet Coke?

Hmmm…

The question almost answers itself. Join me won’t you? I need a new game. We drink when Charlie drinks, is over for now. We blew through all 5 seasons of that show. And now we have to wait. It’s like breaking up with a boyfriend. Sad. But, the world keeps spinning, so…

I’ll make mine and you make yours and we’ll just hang out and post silly stuff all over the internets tonight until we can’t type straight.

I’ll go first.

What do you think of when I say, “Giant Spiders” ?

And…..drink! Happy Weekend!
