What do these things have in common? Me, Vodka, and Olives.

This drunken post should be all the answer you need.

It’s Friday. My children are safe, away, with their daddy. Mother Nature has left the building. And I’m as smooth as George Clooney in a roomful of cocktail waitresses at a Vegas Casino. (That’s for Michael K. He’s not a reader, but he’d appreciate the effort)

It’s 6:30 PM Chicago Time and I’m going to hit publish and make Number 2. Wait a minute.

Let me re-type. I’m leaving it though because it’s funny. At least it is when you drink a giant cup of vodka.

Re-phrase: I’m posting, hitting Publish, and making my second Dirty Martini, minus the dirty, the olives and the glass.

And……

Wacky Water Weekend With… / Friday Fun

July 27, 2009 at 1:41 pm (Big Benches, Cartoons, Day to Day, Pictures, TV Shows) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So, after Mason cut all his grasses on Friday, we went to do my “Friday Fun Family Summer Project”.

Which as you may recall, I teased you with a few days ago…Benches of Love….???

Tinley Park, Illinois, just a few towns over from my own, has a lovely downtown area with shops and restaurants and a train station, businesses, etc., etc. They also have decorated benches. You know, the kind you sit on. I think they are kind of cool and I thought that we could go and park the car at one end of the main street, have a little snack and then walk up and down and take pictures of all the different designs. We could get ice cream?!? And it’s free! (The walking and picture-taking, not the ice cream) After a bit of wha..wha..wha…we went.

My other idea was to post the pictures one day at a time…kind of like…Bench of the Day, while my kids are gone. Again. On yet another vacation with their daddy. This time Monticello, IN. Indiana Beach. They go every year. And while they are gone….

See??…something to look at! I have pics with and without children. We will mix it up so you’ll never know which is coming!! Exciting AND unpredictable!!

Here’s the first one, kind of relevant to summer and the movies, “Star Trek, USS Enterprise”:

Wacky Water Weekend With… / Saturday Swim

July 27, 2009 at 1:05 pm (Day to Day, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

The Birthday Pool Party!

What a nice day! Not too hot, not too sunny…although I got pretty scorched along with my brother-in-law, that semi-cloud cover can be deceiving…

They belong to a Park District Pool where they live and Elexa’s B-day Party was there! Friends, family, food, fun…the usual.

This place had many pool areas: a party room, snack bar, diving boards, a drop chute, water slides (2) open/semi-closed, slow/fast, kids or adults. Nothing crazy. Some Lily Pad jump things, Dumping Buckets of Water, and Sprays. The kids loved it.

(I did the slides, the drop chute and the high dive, making me the coolest mom who participated and didn’t just sit on the sidelines…their words, not mine.)

One more time:

Happy Birthday Elexa!

Happy Birthday Jesse!

July 27, 2009 at 12:10 pm (Day to Day, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Holy Pierogi! Can the weekend really be over already?? Yes, I know it’s Monday, but we have actually been out in the world:

Swimming,  Party-ing, Food-ing, Cake-ing, Picture Taking, Food-ing, Driving, More Food-ing, More Driving…we packed it in these last three days. (Our weekend started with Friday…lucky!)

Let’s start from Sunday, and go back…One guess…

Pierogi Fest! What? You don’t know? You are either,

1. Not Polish

or, 2. Not from around here

or, 3. From around here, a Polack, but still not know what this is!

All very likely. That was us three years ago. Now we know. This is the Official Website below:

Street Money Update!

July 13, 2009 at 6:05 pm (Street Money) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I’ll dispense with the usual, long chatter and get to the point.

10¢ on the floor of Hooter’s–(delicious)–Mason almost had his eye poked out and a tray of crab legs and steaming wings dumped on him trying to pick it up, but hey, we work hard for the money…haha

1¢ on the ground at the arcade/mini-golf/driving range/batting cage/go-kart fun center!

We were kind of busy this weekend, having fun and spending too much money.

One day we will break even. Ha. Check here for the year count.

Can you say…loser?!?

July 11, 2009 at 1:59 pm (Pictures, Pocket Poker) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Or winner?!? Hmmm…Despite the fact that I have no time to post anything that my loyal fans want to read…Sorry people…school HAS to come first. I need a job with a good future and a good paycheck and that gives me the feeling that I am actually making a difference in the world!

Beyond the new windows—pictures in a few!!!!!—and the laundry and the kids coming home, then leaving, then coming home again, then babysitting nieces and nephews, then cleaning up the window mess and re-painting…I still had time for some POCKET POKER!

Oh yeah. I am the queen of the hand-held video gamer. I pretend I am in Vegas, and I just go for broke!

Broke for me at the moment is 600 points! Please refer back to the previous post, weeks ago when I broke 500. I achieved this chance success with a few Four-of-a-Kinds and one Straight Flush.

I am on the trail of the elusive Royal Flush. 3000 points!

I have only gotten it one time in the history of my playing. Before the long break when I lost it.

I have to go take a shower now because we have to re-caulk the tub and it will be unavailable for 24 hours.

Enjoy the picture below and stay tuned for more later! I’m halfway done with the studying…reading a butt load of chapters is next but I can squeeze in computer time!

Ahhh, 4pm Friday Afternoon…

June 12, 2009 at 4:08 pm (Day to Day) (, , , , , , , , , )

It’s 75 degrees south of the City. Sunny and breezy. The kids are gone for the weekend. And I’m trying to decide what to do.

Go to the gym and run 4 miles on the treadmill or kick back with my friend Jack and a Diet Coke?

Hmmm…

The question almost answers itself. Join me won’t you? I need a new game. We drink when Charlie drinks, is over for now. We blew through all 5 seasons of that show. And now we have to wait. It’s like breaking up with a boyfriend. Sad. But, the world keeps spinning, so…

I’ll make mine and you make yours and we’ll just hang out and post silly stuff all over the internets tonight until we can’t type straight.

I’ll go first.

What do you think of when I say, “Giant Spiders” ?

And…..drink! Happy Weekend!

Ass Water, Slyder and Freddy. I hate when nights end like this!

June 1, 2009 at 10:52 pm (Day to Day) (, , , , , , , )

How DO some people get their cute little nicknames?

Take two parts alcohol, a late running party, one over-tired kid, and a bag of BK cheeseburgers. Fold in one ingredient after another and try to have an innocent conversation. Then mishear one word and suddenly everyone has a new nickname and the night has taken a seriously wrong turn.

It probably won’t SEEM funny typed out here…and I’m sure my sister will be calling any second to tell me how NOT funny I am, but let’s try!

Sissy and hubby come home from party I babysat for with BF and kids. Girl is sleeping. Boy is ready to go. I say, “Ready Freddy?” He says, “Who’s Freddy?” My sissy says, “You now. We’re going to start calling you Freddy…hahahaha…”

Lots of laughs, extra jokes, T-shirts will be made…the whole thing.

As we are leaving, my boy says, “Bye Aunty Amanda”  My sister hears, “Bye Aunty Enema” “What? What did you say? Did you say enema?” Laughing of course, because it’s funny. And it did sound like that. We all make a joke about enemas…and my son says, “What’s an enema?” We basically fall over each other to tell him, water up the butt.

“You just called Aunty the water you put up your ass”

Yes, here it comes. Are you laughing? “You just called Aunty ‘Ass Water’ ”

That WAS funny. We all laughed, and I said that would be her new nickname. We could put that on a shirt.

The hubby already had the Slyder nickname from a motorcycle mishap early in his riding career. The “Y” just adds that extra level of cool.

The BF pointed out that the three names makes an excellent group together. And here’s where you all came in, hence the headline. Sounds…intriguing, does it not? Are you side-splitting? Pictures might help.

Then my son expanded it out, so he could say it without getting in trouble, to “Aunty Ass (as in donkey) Water” It still got the laughs, but by then the booze was wearing off, and we had an hour to drive. Another family memory noted in our collective books and saved here forever on the internets.

Was it as good for you as it was for us?? Yeah right. I recommend pouring yourself a LARGE shot of Vodka (or whatever liquor floats the boat), and then RE-READ. Is it funny now? No? Repeat above step until it is! Then you can drunk-type me with YOUR new nickname and I PROMISE, I WILL laugh!! Swear.

Get to bed. School and work people. We’ll have fun after that! See you tomorrow. Love you Ass Water…I mean, Amanda. Goodnight!

And now for a little weekend music…

March 21, 2009 at 6:24 am (EFS) (, , , , , , )

I know, how predictable. It’s Saturday. Day 4 of our Extreme Fat Smashing experience. Don’t have to exercise. You CAN, but you don’t HAVE to.  Still have to follow the food regimen though. If we can make it thru this weekend without a McDonalds Meltdown or a giant Pizza Pig Party, we should be home free. I was gonna go with the time/pointless endeavor music list out of sheer laziness, but then I heard some Loverboy music on the radio and voila’…it’s a rockin’  Saturday night! Or day. Whatever. The EFS makes me tired. And if you can’t eat and you can’t enjoy the other thing you can do on Saturday night with no kids home because you have a certain female condition wrecking all the fun….you just go to bed. Save your energy for Sunday when you get to eat another crumb and go run for half the day. So with total predictability, dance it quick and hit the sack, here is the “Saturday Weekend Party” list:

1. Working For The Weekend / Loverboy

2. Party Like A Rockstar / Shop Boyz

3. Saturday Night / Ta-Gana

4. Get The Party Started / Pink

5. Come Dancing / The Kinks

6. Saturday Night / Bay City Rollers

7. Party Doll / Buddy Knox with The Rhythm Orchids

8. Saturday Night Special / Lynyrd Skynyrd

9. Garden Party / Ricky Nelson

10. Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) / Kid Rock & Nickelback or Elton if you’re more into that.

11. Dead Man’s Party / Oingo Boingo

12. Dancing With Myself / Billy Idol

13. Rock And Roll All Nite / Kiss

14. Little Red Corvette / Prince
