Crete, Illinois. Stealth Bomber Fly-Over? Yeah, whatever Nascar.

July 13, 2009 at 6:38 pm (Day to Day, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So we are just hanging out in Crete, Illinois, on Saturday, late afternoon, playing some mini-golf and discussing dinner plans, when, from out of the west flies in a Stealth Bomber! The military fighter plane. What??

I know. So we are all excited, like, what the heck ??!! Why would the Stealth be way the hell over here, in the middle of nowhere, with no military bases and what-not around? Then here comes another one! And there it goes, pretty far off from us. Now, I’m just mad because we didn’t get a picture.

Well, cue Nascar, cause here come two more. I’m sure it was the same two, but now we are ready for their close-up. They flew directly over us. So we got a pretty good shot. It’s kind of small though…something’s wrong with the setting on the BF’s phone. We’re gonna have to fix that.

Mason is the one who put the Nascar spin on it. And it turns out, he was right. Apparently they do a fly-over along with the Blue Angels.

Crete is pretty far from Joliet, but I guess not too far for a turn around when you are flying a Stealth. After we got our pics, they were gone. So that’s below.

And here is a link that the BF found today on the internet with a Nascar notes blog. Check out Number 9.

And Mason, if you’re reading this, make sure you click and see who is out and taking pictures with the fans…not hiding in his trailer like a little girl. Hahaha. Number ONE in POINTS, baby!! Nothing else matters in the end. (XOXO, Mom)

We ain’t special, and we wasn’t been attacked by space aliens…it was just racing. Shucks.

Hey…are those 2 more new windows in your house or are you just happy to see me…

July 11, 2009 at 4:54 pm (Day to Day, Home Improvement, Pictures, Windows) (, , , )

…through those 2 new windows that are in your house….?? Too much??

That is really stretching the “joke”, but what the hell! New windows! Three purchased, three installed! Really, really nice! John Smith! Rocked In!  Even if I told you that was his real name you wouldn’t believe it! He did an awesome job! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My only sadness is that it is 90 again here in Chicago and I had to close them for the air. Boohoo. I’m willing to sweat it out for the sake of just having windows that open, that I want to look at…but the kids don’t like to be too sweaty. Spoiled!

We have their room and the bathroom done now. I am especially pleased with the bathroom. It looks way better than what I figured it would. With these types of houses, only so much is possible. Above and beyond!

Anyway…this is the first…

It’s a Mike Rowe kind of day…and that ain’t bad!

July 11, 2009 at 4:10 pm (Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Mike Rowe cropped

I’ve been so busy with my own life, I almost forgot about my future husband. Silly! The boy was watching the “Dirty Jobs” and I am hooked again! I already have Mike and his show on my I-Pod for totally mobile viewing; you know, for those times I get the urge to get a little “dirty”. Ha.

And for awhile there I was watching his show and visiting his site every day. I mean every, single, day. I was obsessed! That’s how I discovered that I am not the only one. Apparently Mike has A LOT of fans. They write to him and send him stuff and devote their Internet musings to him….I love him, but we hardly know each other! And I’m not very “crafty”. I’d like to make him a collage of all his greatest moments and put it in a frame box with memento’s and video and endless devotional messages to his outstanding hotness, and then send it to him…but sadly, I am not too creative with that kind of stuff. Maybe I’ll write him a love blog. Hee hee hee, just writing that makes me giggle. I guess I’ll just love him from afar! If the universe deems it so…then it shall be…

Anyhoo, he’s been off the market for awhile on the Ford front, but I recently saw a new commercial. Not bad, but nothing can really top the truck ones. How can you beat Mike walking and talking and driving around in those big F150’s and going on about power trains, bed lengths, boxed frames, tow capacities; hauling and suspension; strength and being Ford tough…whatever…I can barely listen to the pitch without having to excuse myself.

But enough about that. He’s narrating a new show, “Wild Pacific” on Discovery. We will be watching. Nature and Mike. Good enough for me!

Click it here for more on the man and what he’s doing.

This is just a still from my favorite episode! “Dirty Jobs: Billboard Installer”. You can really get a feel for Mike Rowe and his complete “man-ness”. If that is a word. I need an expression to say how manly he is or seems to be. It’s very male, but still relatable to having a love affair with. He seems like he could fix anything that is wrong with you, whether you knew it was broke or not. He is the total package. If you do not want to have a man exactly like this—whoever you are—than you just don’t know.

Sorry I couldn’t find any clips of the actual episode, but seek it out…true love takes a little work! Come On!

Can you say…loser?!?

July 11, 2009 at 1:59 pm (Pictures, Pocket Poker) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Or winner?!? Hmmm…Despite the fact that I have no time to post anything that my loyal fans want to read…Sorry people…school HAS to come first. I need a job with a good future and a good paycheck and that gives me the feeling that I am actually making a difference in the world!

Beyond the new windows—pictures in a few!!!!!—and the laundry and the kids coming home, then leaving, then coming home again, then babysitting nieces and nephews, then cleaning up the window mess and re-painting…I still had time for some POCKET POKER!

Oh yeah. I am the queen of the hand-held video gamer. I pretend I am in Vegas, and I just go for broke!

Broke for me at the moment is 600 points! Please refer back to the previous post, weeks ago when I broke 500. I achieved this chance success with a few Four-of-a-Kinds and one Straight Flush.

I am on the trail of the elusive Royal Flush. 3000 points!

I have only gotten it one time in the history of my playing. Before the long break when I lost it.

I have to go take a shower now because we have to re-caulk the tub and it will be unavailable for 24 hours.

Enjoy the picture below and stay tuned for more later! I’m halfway done with the studying…reading a butt load of chapters is next but I can squeeze in computer time!

July Fourth Parade Highlights!

July 7, 2009 at 5:02 pm (Day to Day, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

This is what you have been waiting for. I know you didn’t believe me, (unless you are from a small town), but I wasn’t kidding when I said I was going to my mom’s to watch the Fourth of July (Tractor) Parade. They do have alot of them in her small town.

Keep in mind while scrolling down that these are all different tractors. They may look the same but I only took one shot of each, so the quality varies, and it was raining like a bitch, and kept getting on the camera lens, but it was still pretty fun. And, yes, I finally feel better, thanks for asking. (Got a nasty chest/head cold down at the Taste, 6 days ago. Sore throat is much better but I still have the gravelly, husky voice, sexy!)

I threw in some local flavor to keep it fun. It starts with Uncle Sam, and it ends with a power tractor hanging a “THE END” sign off the back.

The Bell Truck is new, and the PINK Tractor is the town favorite! Plus, they throw candy and chocolates!

My personal favorite are the International Harvester tractors (that’s where my dad worked before they striked and closed in Chicago, so many years ago).

Grab a beer, settle into your lawn chair and raise another toast to America. One more year for freedom is in the books.

Feeling Yucky and Feeling Happy

July 6, 2009 at 7:53 pm (Day to Day, Home Improvement, Pictures, School News, Windows) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

I still feel a little gross. Throat hurts, but thankfully not as bad. I was at my sissy’s yesterday and there was a woman there with a worse throat than mine, really awful—hope she gets better quick!—so I promised I’d give up the complaining. I will only say that I am losing my voice. It’s not a complaint. I like my voice all gravelly and whiskey soaked.

The yucky is from being overwhelmed. I was just going over my school work to review the handouts and read some chapters when I realized that there is A LOT of reading and material to go over. And there are still 3 more weeks of handouts to learn before the Final.

Panic. Apprehension. Scaredy pants.

Starting in on the work is always the hardest. And I have a CPR class and test to take. I don’t know why it always makes me nervous to take that written test. It’s like the Driver’s Test. You know the material but you just have an awful feeling you are going to mess it up big time! Crazy.

Plus I bummed myself out a little bit with that previous post. Sad days.

I think I need pizza. Pepperoni Therapy with a Vodka Kiss on the cheek.

On the other hand, we had our first brand new non-metal, non-crank window installed today! Finally, the Modern World catches up to our house!

No more 50’s post-war row-house window for my kids! After 6, yes SIX, long years, they can finally OPEN a window in their room and get some fresh air. They won’t even know what to do with all this outside access!

I have to go and clean up the mess on the inside—happily!–and get it ready for a drywall patch and trim painting! I love it! It looks awesome!

Thank you John!!! You Rock!
