Street Money Update
I couldn’t wait until tomorrow! You will all be happy to know I completed my HealthCare Provider CPR class with flying colors and am now suitably renewed to continue helping in case one of you mugs drops in front of me.
I went in feeling just a bit nervous. They always have these classes in the deepest, darkest, farthest, massively corridor-ed area of the hospital basement. But once I was in…everything was fine. This was the best CPR class I EVER took. The instructors were smart, funny, experienced, and genuinely interested in helping us learn the process. I came out feeling confident and ready for action.
I’m sure some of this good cheer was the result of the lucky PENNY I found right before class!
Please compress your way to the following link to see the year total so far. And breathe.
July Fourth Parade Highlights!
This is what you have been waiting for. I know you didn’t believe me, (unless you are from a small town), but I wasn’t kidding when I said I was going to my mom’s to watch the Fourth of July (Tractor) Parade. They do have alot of them in her small town.
Keep in mind while scrolling down that these are all different tractors. They may look the same but I only took one shot of each, so the quality varies, and it was raining like a bitch, and kept getting on the camera lens, but it was still pretty fun. And, yes, I finally feel better, thanks for asking. (Got a nasty chest/head cold down at the Taste, 6 days ago. Sore throat is much better but I still have the gravelly, husky voice, sexy!)
I threw in some local flavor to keep it fun. It starts with Uncle Sam, and it ends with a power tractor hanging a “THE END” sign off the back.
The Bell Truck is new, and the PINK Tractor is the town favorite! Plus, they throw candy and chocolates!
My personal favorite are the International Harvester tractors (that’s where my dad worked before they striked and closed in Chicago, so many years ago).
Grab a beer, settle into your lawn chair and raise another toast to America. One more year for freedom is in the books.

Check out the missing wheel!

The Bell Truck. It was chiming while driving. Very nice.

So rainy! But kind of arty, don't you think?

Some local flavor! Here it comes...

Sorry, Jas, I think his is bigger than yours!

Bonus pics with extra tractor!

The train tractor!

Tractor on a trailer!

The best for last!! The very famous PINK tractor!

The End!
Cheers Everyone! I have to go do CPR on dummies now! Wish me luck!! See you later.
Dodge Challenger 10
This is sad. I am desperate. Thank you, honey for getting the picture, but I need MORE!
I have seen many cool Challengers on the road in the last few weeks, but they are all going in the opposite direction and I can’t get a photo opportunity quick enough. Red with black racing stripes, charcoal flat, orange, deep red/maroon; It stinks!
Unless I have the camera on and ready to take a picture at any moment while I am in the car, and practically aimed at the road… I will continue to miss these vehicles. I feel that tactic might be bordering on the crazy-compulsive rather than the quirky-compulsive that I would feel more comfortable being labeled with.
Anyway, until something better comes along…sigh…take a look at these. I enlarged the pictures as much as I could with my limited computer skills and free computer imaging software, while still trying to maintain photo recognition. And we have:

The "bad" one first. Squint and look deep into the mirror. The reflection is the car.

And there it goes! You've seen enough by now...you get the idea.
Day Quote
I remember my youth and the feeling that will never come back anymore—the feeling that I could last for ever, outlast the sea, the earth, and all men; the deceitful feeling that lures us on to perils, to love, to vain effort—to death; the triumphant conviction of strength, the heat of life in the handful of dust, that glow in the heart that with every year grows dim, grows cold, grows small, and expires—and expires, too soon, too soon—before life itself.
—Joseph Conrad
Here’s what I am actually doing…
On the web obviously, with a billion, jillion other people, while watching the Memorial to Michael Jackson that I said I wasn’t going to watch.
I guess I didn’t realize that they were going to have his casket there. It seemed from the coverage leading up to it, like it was going to be an outrageous tribute more than an actual service. Everyone looks very somber and subdued, singing and speaking above the flower-covered, golden casket.
It’s a thousand times more heartfelt and serious than I imagined it would be. The family is there and the arena falls back to complete silence after the applause for the performers. I hate to admit that I might cry, but my throat feels tight. The speakers are quite eloquent and moving.
As strange as it seems, it actually feels like being in church sitting in my living room.
Nice job Los Angeles and America, (the world?), I think we might have done something good here.
Here’s what I should be doing…
Studying like there isn’t enough time in the world…First Nursing Final is next week and it’s twice as long as the other tests. I think I’ll just be able to squeeze in all the work I need to do in 6 days. Must stay ahead of the curve!
And running around outside, at the big, paved, circle in the Forest Preserve (with reading material). I have 10 days until Warrior Dash!
