Buggy Bug Bugs

July 31, 2009 at 7:31 pm (Big Bugs, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Of the day! I’m fading fast here….my brain is being vodclouded as I type. 1000 words and all that…(fyi, that lady and her booty is not me or my sister. She was just another mom getting in the way of my picture, in case you were wondering)

Benches from outer space…

July 31, 2009 at 7:12 pm (Big Benches, Cartoons, Pictures, TV Shows) (, , , , , , , )

Why does this seem more difficult tonight (see previous post)??

Another bench. From… the future! (And outer space, I think)

What's funny, is that they don't know what this is. When I started to sing the theme song they thought I was making it up.

What do these things have in common? Me, Vodka, and Olives.

This drunken post should be all the answer you need.

It’s Friday. My children are safe, away, with their daddy. Mother Nature has left the building. And I’m as smooth as George Clooney in a roomful of cocktail waitresses at a Vegas Casino. (That’s for Michael K. He’s not a reader, but he’d appreciate the effort)

It’s 6:30 PM Chicago Time and I’m going to hit publish and make Number 2. Wait a minute.

Let me re-type. I’m leaving it though because it’s funny. At least it is when you drink a giant cup of vodka.

Re-phrase: I’m posting, hitting Publish, and making my second Dirty Martini, minus the dirty, the olives and the glass.

And……

Flower Update. In front of the house.

July 30, 2009 at 11:28 pm (Flowers, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , )

It’s finally starting to look the way I like it. Kind of wild and a little weedy. I’m sure that’s some kind of glimpse into my soul or my inner psyche.

With the rain/sunshine/heat/ combo’s we have going here all week, the sprouts are blooming. Here’s from tonight, before the rain came again.

Since we are on the subject of BIG things…

July 30, 2009 at 10:17 pm (Giant Food, Pictures) (, , , , , , )

What…Were YOU thinking??!! I mean like, big bugs, big benches, big fish…I have another example of BIG FOOD. Sheesh.

It was for my sissy’s birthday dinner (I have to mention it again to tell the story) that we all went to the night before the Warrior Dash (no more link–it’s over). And the BF ordered carrot cake. Seems harmless enough right? Little did we know! Needless to say, when it showed up after having no indication it would be THIS big, we had to take the shot!

It took three separate eating sessions to finish it! No kidding.

The restaurant is Rock Bottom Brewery. In Orland Park, IL. Excellent food, drinks and service.

Hungry?

Kind of looks big right?

These are some of the other giant foods we have encountered since starting this site. (Just for all-inclusiveness sake–because I’m anal)

Big Bugs! New Feature!

July 30, 2009 at 7:03 pm (Big Bugs, New Features, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Since I am posting a lot of other “big” things, I thought you’d like to see the Big Bugs! at the Morton Arboretum! We went last year with the kids and it was great fun. The place is huge! And the bugs were awesome! They’re gone now, they were only there for a limited time. The artist that created them made them giant and completely out of wood; finished sticks. We like stuff like this. Practically free and inspires creativity! And it’s just flat out cool. I’m going to dole them out one at a time to keep up with the rest of my daily stuff!

Hot Breaking News From the Suburbs!! Rita Wears Her First Summery Outfit In Years!! Ankles EXPOSED!!

July 30, 2009 at 6:25 pm (Day to Day, My Mom, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

We have photo’s of this magnanimous event! I took the pictures! With my camera! She let me!

It’s true. It’s all true. Rita NEVER wears anything that goes above her elbows or the tops of her shoes. EVER. Heck, she never even wears OPEN toe shoes.

But today, for whatever reason, she showed up, at my house, with a light blouse and jeans on, that were rolled to mid-calf! And cute, little Sketcher shoes with multi-colored bands. They had a closed toe, but they were definitely summery! I am so proud of my mom!

If I can be serious for a minute, this is the first time, as an adult, I think I can remember her exposing her ankles in such a  fashion. And, I might add, she looks pretty good! (The skin on her ankles is probably all freaked out though wondering what the hell happened and who dares to parade them around in the daylight!?!)

Enough of my talk talk. This is for my mom. Here’s the shots:

Dodge Challenger 14 / Walking Advantage

July 30, 2009 at 5:38 pm (Dodge Challenger, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , )

While walking around to capture all those wonderful bench images you have been seeing and will continue to see for another week or so, we walked right past the Bettenhausen Dodge dealership. Across the street, they have more cars (and more benches), but one vehicle in particular caught my camera eye. Can you guess?

Is it cheating? I say no. We weren’t looking for the Challenger, the Challenger was there already, waiting for us.

Damn, I love this car.
