Flowers From The BF
Just because. So bright. So beautiful. Love you. Thank you. I updated three pages, posted a few things, babysat the nephew, watched football, and did a little, little, work. This weekend is over. I need to go to bed. I have an early work day tomorrow. Sleep sweet with good dreams. And stay warm all my friends in the Midwest. The cold is here, and the snow is coming for us. Good night.
Terrible Mom Alert!
TWO missed birthdays! The boy. Above. Oct. 13. He is 16. The girl. Below. Nov. 21. She is 15.
Thank you Outback Steakhouse for having large mirrors and flattering lighting in your bathrooms, men and women’s, so that both of my children could, separately, but at the same time, go into the bathrooms the night we were there and take pictures of themselves without the other one knowing. They both came back to the table and were very excited about the selfies they got in the excellent washroom photo studio they apparently have there. Also, it’s good because I have no actual pictures of them with their cakes and mini-party celebrations we had here at the house. If I find any pics later, I’ll just post them randomly and you can guess what they’re from. Kind of a “Where’s Waldo?” but with cake. At least I only missed the girl’s by 2 days. And we are going out for a collective dinner tonight. An expensive, collective dinner. We really spend way too much on food in this family unit. Plus we get to dress up! But I need to finish this now quick, so I can shower, shave, and shine. The BF is yelling because he doesn’t think we’ll be ready to go. He’s walking around confiscating cell phones and electronic devices. This is serious business. But first, quick quick: Old mom alert! The boy has a driver’s license now and a vehicle. That he paid for. And the girl will be starting driving school soon. Here’s a picture of the truck that he bought:
It’s good for both kids actually, because now he can drive them both to school. And anywhere else they need to go! One of the only sophomores with a license, a car, and a parking permit. I knew he’d be ahead of everyone else in his class at something! Alright, I’m seriously getting a side-eye from the time police over here, so I need to go. Happy (late-internet) birthday, Mason and Stevie! I love you! XOXO. Later!
So Much For Posting Every Day In September
This is my hummingbird friend that hung out with me all day yesterday. We have 4! This particular one kept sitting on the wire right over my head. It would even fly up to me when I would go in the house and then come back out. It looks like he/she is trying to wave or give me a hug. I have more and better shots. I took about 100+ pictures. I have no life. Well, I have a life, but no car. It’s being worked on, yet again. Nissan is NOT kidding when they say, “If your brake and battery lights come on at the same time, get it to a shop asap.” Lights came on; next day, no start. It’s the alternator. Thank you internet. We kind of already knew before the mechanic told us, so, it’s good and bad. Sometimes it’s beneficial to have that whole world of info at your fingertips. It doesn’t help us fix it or pay for it, but we were armed with knowledge! Knowledge is power! Anyway, I have to go to work now. The BF drove his motorcycle so I could take his car. The Maxima is supposed to be done today, but I am out of time. I will have to get it in the AM. And it’s hot hot hot. An attempt at record breaking heat is supposed to occur today, for September, in our area. It’s windy too. A smallish branch has already fallen from one of our last two trees standing. Let this be the end of trouble for this week. Everyone be careful out there.
Watch for motorcycles!!
Thank you!
Happy New Year To Me!
44 years old today. My final birthday in which I will actually be getting older. I like the number 44 so that’s what I will be staying at. This is a super fast post before I go to work in half an hour. It’s my holiday to work. Boo. At least it’s double time. Let’s all hope for a fast shift and a fun day if you aren’t working! Have a drink for me. Please! These are my presents so far. Lighthouse bird feeder from the BF. LOVE IT!! Just imagine all those bird shots I will be getting now. Amanda, I am talking to you. Boring, my ass!
From my mom. These are fall decorations for my house. And I got cash. The pumpkins are in the living room now, but they will be relocated to the bathroom as soon as I get new towels and crap. Thank you mommy!!
From my sissy Noelle. Lottery tickets and a magnet. That magnet is already on my fridge. I hope I win money! Thank you! Ok Amanda and Tom, I am waiting…
I also received many internet birthday wishes and coupons from places I shop at and places I don’t. I plan on listing them all later, because some of them are pretty funny. I hope they age adjust the coupons to places I will need as I get older. That would be awesome. Although I am NOT looking forward to my first birthday wish from the “Depends” company. I really really “gotta go” hahahahahaha. Have a great day! With any luck I can spend the last 30 minutes of my birthday back at home tonight! XO to all! Lisa.
Let’s Not Over Think This Now
How about I just post the pictures in the order that I took them? I can not believe, no, scratch that, of course I can believe how much brain time I devoted to this issue of how and what order to post these benches in. Who cares? Doesn’t matter. We didn’t walk in any particular order. They are not arranged in any particular order. (I don’t think anyway). So what difference does it make how you see them? It’s all the same theme. My head hurts. And it doesn’t even have to. Oh well. The other post had the dragon bench. This is, above, Thumbelina’s Garden. Pretty sure. Below is, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. That makes 3 posted.
I will keep going as time permits today. I have laundry and one more, last graduation party to attend, for the season. I also have Zoo pictures! And I finally bit the bullet and got back on that motorcycle that has been mocking me in the garage for over a year. I rode. I did a wheel screeching, head turning, back end wiggling, burn out, when the bike stopped dead in it’s tracks after I killed it coming up to a stoplight. I stayed upright. I did not poop in my pants. Or just drop that bike where it stood and said, “Done.” I started it back up. Gave a little wave to all the people on all the corners. (A lot of people. Damn kids and adults, fund raising all over the suburbs today. Watching me re-learn this skill.) Thanked the heavens above that no one was behind me, and rode off into the sunlight. Real cool-like. I almost gave the BF a heart attack. I probably had a small one myself and will now live 2 years less, but what do they say? Live to Ride, Ride to Die? Something like that. I had my helmet on and jeans and thick shoes. I would have been fine. In fact, I feel better than fine. I almost, almost, felt comfy. And I’m not afraid this year. For whatever reason. That I will not be thinking about in any detail. At all. The throttle is way too high and it feels like it’s trying to leap forward every second I don’t have the brake on, but that’s the fun right? And I didn’t fall. This post may have gone in a whole different direction if I had been laying on the pavement trying to get the bike off my shaking, scratched up, burned up legs. Anyway, I’m going to take a picture as soon as the BF brings the bike back from his, “blow-out-the-old-gas-get-the-engine-moving-again-so-we-don’t-have-to-keep-the-choke-full-on-to-prevent-the-bike-from-dying-when-we-stop” ride. In the meantime, let’s put up one more bench. It’s like, Super Saturday! Here is, A Stroll In The Woods. I think. I’m not really sure. It’s Snow White, at any rate. And not my favorite. But here it is. That makes 4/20. Later.
What Do You Do All Day At Work?
Does it look fun like this? I bet it doesn’t. This is the BF’s job. He works for Bosch-Rexroth. You can look that up for yourself if you want more info because I am not even going to try. The sub heading for his company is “The Drive & Control Company”. Now that does sound pretty cool right? Here are some words I will throw out and then end this post: Engineering. Hydraulics. Automation. Pneumatics. Linear Motion Technology. Tightening Technology. Advanced Motion Control. Motors. Pumps. You get the idea. Say them slow enough and you have one sexy afternoon hanging out with all men in a manufacturing wet dream. But you decide for yourself. At any rate, there are a lot of IQ points flying around that room. Multiple equations are being calculated. Several theories are being tested. Many high-tech-super-spy-gadget wristwatches are being compared. It’s an above average sausage fest for sure. Can I type that? I mean it in the best possible way. Sorry if it seems crude. I got home late from work last night, 2:30 AM, and got up early with the boy because of football at 7 AM. And then I just stayed up to get more house type things done before work again today. As you can read, I am really using that time wisely. I should be folding laundry or cleaning or something. Boring. I also might be a little lightheaded from lack of sleep. Let me keep posting all my fun daily activities though just to be sure. Here’s another picture of the whole system, with men gesturing and calculating on clipboards, using more brainpower in this one shot than I will use all day. Everyone say, “Quantum Physics!”
Day Off (Yesterday) With The Kids
Imagine how many pictures I can take of nature type things. Now multiply by 2. My daughter and me taking pictures all day?? Oh yea. There’s a lot. A. LOT. Just waiting for their moment to shine via the internet. Plus storm debris from the nasty little burst we had roll through here yesterday at exactly 6pm. Gotta go to work right now though. I mean, I have to work some of these days or the BF is going to kill me. And I will be off again for the next 2. (Sorry honey–I’ll call in a bit to explain!! Don’t be mad!!) But, I have to do CPR Re-Cert, so it’s still like work. That’s a lot of italics in a short post. I better go. More later.
Happy Father’s Day!
Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies. Past, present, future. By blood or by life. If you are taking care of the kids every day, you are a daddy! Keep on truckin’. That’s for my dad. Old school. Gone but not forgotten. (Sorry little brother, you weren’t born yet in these pics!)
Look at that old time stroller! It’s like a shopping cart for babies. My brother, who just became a daddy for the first time, and the last of all us kids to have kids, is rockin’ it new school with all the hip gear. And a baby backpack. Show me the love:
WARNING: The picture below my be unsuitable for children. And adults. It contains a gesture that may be considered offensive. Please proceed with caution.
My brother is still not fully embracing the whole “baby thing”. Or is he? We’ve seen him pushing the baby, changing the baby, feeding the baby, carrying all the babies stuff in a snazzy backpack, (see above), so I don’t know. He’s a rock. He’s an island. But this is a man who knows how to protect the important things in life. Last picture. Hooch and the baby. I think his son is one finger away from looking exactly like him. Have a very, very, happy Father’s Day!
Sprinkler Break.
It’s a cheat. I will get to the underwater thing. Too much build up though, is definitely gonna backfire on me here. But. In between posting I have to water the sod. We have grass again. Remember from yesterday? They were laying it? Well, the BF spent A LOT of time setting up this complicated sprinkler/placement/timing system thing. And I must comply with the program. It’s actually not that bad once you get the hang of it, but we will be heading out to the store asap when he gets home because I am not liking the one sprinkler with its “throwing water in an arc” coverage, compared to the “cascading back and forth” sprinkler you see here. We must have even water distribution! I guess you really can’t tell how the water is moving just from this picture and I did not take a picture of the other, less desirable sprinkler, for comparison. You will have to take my word and/or use your imagination and personal, real-world experience in lawn care to figure out what I am talking about and if I am over-thinking this whole thing in general. As I am oft to do. (That was a fancy phrase, no?) Yea though I wasteth much time, I do say, get thee to the end of thine post fair lady. Fore thy day is a furtive foe that shall not wait for mere mortals to complete thine tasks at hand as night always must creep along, cloaked in thy mist of a fading fire, whispering, murmuring, on thy curls of dusk and dagger, and follow thy setting sun ere into a western slumber.
That makes no sense. I am really flexing and bending the rules of language and grammer right now as if I have nothing but time to waste. The BF is home. The watering is complete for the moment. Below is a picture of the grass as it was layed before the watering commenced, all shimmery and full of promise. Of course, now that we have the grass, and could use all that free storm water, it hasn’t rained one drop. Not even a cloud in the sky. This is the weekend to plan outdoor activities if you want. I’ve insured good weather until the grass turns brown, dries up, and dies. I will let you know when the good days will be over. Later.
Day Quote. For The BF. This Is His World Now. With A Flower.
Because all the best quotes come from TV. How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life). I think it’s canceled already, but the wisdom will live forever. Reasons don’t work when you are dealing with the thieves of your youth. So stomp your foot, slouch that back, cross your arms and roll those eyes. Now, dramatically sigh out loud, and repeat after me:
Rational arguments are not going to work with me because I am the child. And the whole point of being the child is your feelings and needs don’t have to make sense, they just have to be addressed.
