Warrior Dash! Video! As promised!

July 20, 2009 at 9:53 am (Day to Day, Video, Warrior Dash) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

These are all pretty short so take a look!

Number 1: Starting the Race

Number 2: The Second Loop–Looking Tired

Number 3: THE MUD!

That’s all for my videos, but I found this one after I posted mine. This was from another competitor who was way ahead of us in the end, but he just so happened to be starting in our same wave. He has some good video of our start from the back as opposed to our footage from the front. You can kind of see us in front of him in line a little bit here and there, but Mason is in the video for a nice cameo at about the 1:25 mark. This runner also has some good shots of the fire and some of the energy before and after the race!

We will be back next year! I hope you enjoy the videos!

One more day of crazy schedule…Video is coming

July 19, 2009 at 10:56 am (Day to Day, Pictures, Random Images, Warrior Dash) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hang in there with me. I’ll get the video up tonight, but I have family obligations that will take me away from the sweet hum of the computer all day.

Need to go get dressed, get my girl packed–her clothes are in the dryer as we type–pick up a champagne holder-thingy and drive to a party with my sister-in-law. Then go to my sister’s where Stevie will stay for a few more days. Mason and I will get our hair fixed, maybe grab a bite, and hopefully get home before it’s too dark and late!

My body is just a bit achy, and my ankle feels a bit sore, but other than that…not bad. The Warrior Dash was a good thing!

Check back here for video later, and definitely check out the Facebook Page for more comments and possible video and pictures. It looks so fun you know you are going to want to do it next year too!!

I just posted some random pics to keep the site visually interesting. That’s just me. Still from the dash, but not really about the race!

One more because I have a problem. NYCC / Ghostbusters 2 / Video!!

July 15, 2009 at 11:30 am (Find The NY Coffee Cup, Movies, Video) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Real quick, then I swear, I will do normal people stuff for a few hours. The cups are right in the beginning of the clip.

Thanks You Tube and posting people! See this movie too–if for some reason you haven’t in the last 15 years–my kids like this one better than the first. Enjoy!

Some stuff is just funny…

July 14, 2009 at 4:50 pm (Video) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Especially if you don’t eat all day (nerves) and then drink a beer.

I literally had coffee and a low-fat Quaker Granola Bar (Oatmeal Raisin–not my fav–but it’s the only one the kids left behind–90 calories) for food today. That was at 7 am.

And I’m not saying that one beer makes me drunk. But it does put a nice, calm, on everything.

And this is funny:

WTF?!?!? My kids are not far enough away from childhood yet.

July 13, 2009 at 10:24 am (Things The Kids Like, Video) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Monday’s are bad enough. Especially when you stay up too late “studying” (4am) I did give it my best shot, but the kids…the kids…!!

That was my last full night with them until they are off again on more summer adventure! They will be going to their friends house this afternoon and returning on Wednesday. Then, Thursday, they have a friend coming to our house. Friday is my sissy’s birthday!! How old? Not as old as me. Bummer. She and the hubby and the kids will be staying here with us because Saturday, at 7:30 AM is…THE WARRIOR DASH!! Finally! I am planning on having fun, not trying to win or be all super-bad, extreme, athlete…but I am getting a nervous stomach-ache already thinking about this. They sent an e-mail telling us to prepare and don’t be fooled–it really is extreme and dangerous and if you are not careful you will get hurt. That helps. And she says we never do anything for HER birthday! Ha. How about a nice hospital stay?? We can share a room! Kidding.

So the week is kind of booked. I still have my final tomorrow–more nerves–and I tried to read more–but it’s hard when you want to do other fun stuff, staying up with the kids, watching tv, playing on the computer, doing laundry, taking posters and stuff off the wall so we can paint, you know, typical Sunday night stuff. The little quitters crashed out at 1 am, but I go all the way. I crawled into bed just as the BF’s alarm was going off at 4:30. He says, “Are you just coming to bed now?!?” I should have just stayed up. AND, I wasn’t even drinking!

Although after seeing, mostly HEARING this mess below  for the WHOLE WEEKEND, I should have. Sometimes the kids computer search abilities are not appreciated. It’s great that they are getting older and more interested and able to do more things with more resources…and sometimes it’s not.

I don’t know where this came from, I don’t know what it is, why it’s out there right now, and how they found it…but please, make it stop.

It’s obviously geared for the small frys, but 11 and 12 year-olds are not immune. Get ready to have this playing in your head for the next 50 days. I’d apologize, but no one feels sorry for me. The lyrics are included, because you know you are going to want to sing along. Enjoy.

Butterfly Party! With cake!

June 23, 2009 at 4:29 pm (Butterflies, Caterpillars, Day to Day, Pictures, Video) (, , , , , , , , , , )

So the party was a success. We had food and drinks and cake and butterflies! What more?

I do have some sad news though. It appears that we may have lost three of our little caterpillars. The ones that were still hanging never opened. It’s been 21 days and the temps have been brutal. For our very first time taking care of butterflies, I would say that eight out of eleven is pretty darn good!

The pics below are of the last three chrysalis. On the 18th and then today. There seems to be a hole in the side of one, and it looked hollow inside.

The pic above is the cake.

The video is the last two butterflies being released. The camera is a little jerky, and once they go, you really can’t see them. Also we are all talking way too loud and over each other. It can be annoying. But stay with it.

When the first butterfly actually picks up and flies away, the kids’ reactions are worth the time.

Still look viable.

Still look viable.

And now, 5 days and 90 degrees later, not so much.

We did a good thing.

Warrior Dash Training!!

June 6, 2009 at 10:10 am (Day to Day, Video, Warrior Dash) (, , , , , , , , )

This is EXACTLY the same kind of training I have been doing for the Warrior Dash! I throw in a little extra running out on the trail, but this is pretty much it! I’m only sorry that I’m not making a video. But you can get the idea from this. Good Luck fellow Warriors!! You are all going DOWN!!

Embarrassing!

June 3, 2009 at 3:58 pm (Video) (, , , , , , , )

I just saw this commercial and got all choked up! Ridiculous. I tried to stop it. I tried to look away. I told myself, “Every trick in the book is being used here to make me cry—candles, destroyed homes, grieving couples, survivors, victory, defeat, the elderly, babies, picture albums, memories, soldiers coming home, people helping people, children singing a very popular, inspirational anthem, perfectly tied-in tagline—ugh–the humanity!”

And I used to WORK in an ad agency. Pathetic! I guess it’s not as bad as the Kodak commercial that used to get me ALL the time. Check it below.

Learning all kinds of new tricks!

June 1, 2009 at 6:28 pm (Butterflies, Caterpillars, Day to Day) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I know I’ve been doing this about 4 months now, but I need LOTS of time to learn, use, embrace, cherish and share the technology I come across. Most things, almost everyone that can work a mouse, already knows, but I have been blind to. Ah, regrets.

Anyway, I’ve been off a few days putting out fires…THAT I STARTED!! Lesson to self…STOP BURNING SH*T!! But I think everything is OK now. Now I can get back to boring my very limited audience in all the mundane, stupid things I do all day, every day. Lucky.

Today I: (sister style) (please check back later for a post explaining  her newly acquired nickname—see if you can figure out which one it is!—we had FUN over the weekend!!)

1. Checked E-mail.

2. Paid some bills.

3. Balanced checkbooks.

4. Went to doctor. (First of my physical exams/tests/etc…that I need for school!! Went smooth! Accomplished much. Yay! Love helping other people….hate going to the doc myself.)

5. Went to final Honor Roll Assembly for year at kids school. (Missed Stevie’s[10:15 am], made Mason’s[1:30 pm]. Actually almost didn’t make it to the later one because there was a scuffle at the bank I stopped at to deposit a check. Crazy. I was soooo sorry I sent my check up that little tube and was stuck sitting there waiting for my stuff. This was outside too! I thought for sure cops were going to pull up any minute…anyway, I got to leave after like 10 minutes so I have to check the news later and see if anything went down…)

Oh yeah…and the kids both got High Honors AND medals for having High Honors all year, every semester. Plus Perfect Attendence. Good job guys!!!

6. Mailed bills.

7. Picked up kids.

8. Went over to BF’s Mom’s to take out garbage and what not…(she had minor foot surgery in case you forgot–she’s ok).

9. Went to CVS. (Snacks—starving!! Didn’t want to eat in case I needed fasting blood work, and then kind of ran out of time–bought really healthy stuff like Trail Mix, but actually ate Cheese Puffs…staying on the track ain’t easy…)(Also, check back for another, later post about the huge mistake I made at the Fuddrucker’s eating Establishment…wasn’t quite “eating-until-I-die”…but it wasn’t the “healthiest choice” (even though I thought it might be at the time) either.).

(What’s up with all these parenthesis and periods??)

10. Typing now, while kids are outside traumatizing innocent catepillars just trying to metamorphisize into beautiful butterflies. They just came flying into the house (the kids) to tell me that,  “There are five, OMG, five MOMMY!!! Monarchs!!”

“Do we have a container to put them in?”

“Do we have a new sponge to make them food?”

Apparently, caterpillar diet is the naturally occuring, sugar-water-on-a-cut-up-sponge.

“No, mom, that’s just what we fed them in class.” Oh. Never raised butterflies at school. I missed out.

OMG!! For real….I have been SUCKED in! My neighbor and the kids are creating a caterpillar nursery in a milk jug and sponges and sugar water and sticks and nets for cocoons…and they really are so interesting and creepy at the same time. There are 8 so far that are crawling all over the ground between our two houses. NEW UPDATE: just in the last 5 minutes: There are 11 now. Eleven orphan caterpillars.

I have to go look up caterpillar/butterfly care/housing on the internet RIGHT NOW! But I’ll be back later. Here’s the first pics of our new family below.

I’m also going to post a YouTube video–my original intent—Video Remake/Bonnie Tyler/Total Eclipse of the Heart (one of my favs as you know if you’ve been reading any of my music lists). Re-done, funny and clever!—that’s after the Nursery pics!

Enjoy a song while you wait for more updates!
