My One Summer Butterfly

Hello and thank you to all my new friends and followers! I’m not sure what has changed in these last few days but I am glad for the chance to expand my world and to become a part of someone else’s. Maybe all those storms that blew through the middle of America shook up the airwaves somehow and blew out the dust of our random lives and we all ended up in fresh spots to wait out the winter that’s looming ahead. Maybe it’s just a fluke.

Either way, here we all are and it’s good. Now on to my picture story: All those wild flowers in front of the house, that everyone else calls weeds, and I only managed to attract this one, big, beautiful, patterned butterfly. And he was late to boot. Showed up in August/Sept. But look at that photo. It’s nice, right? Perfect American image. Not planned, I swear. We keep the flag up all the time, and I was taking pictures too fast to frame this on purpose, because he kept flying around and landing anywhere that was  away from me and my phone. Oh yeah, did I mention that picture was taken with my phone?? Just a smidge more bragging on the G4 even if I have to do it myself. Here are some more pictures of that butterfly below. All the flowers are gone now and it’s too cold for flyers. I’m just gonna start posting all my pictures as fast as I can without any central theme. Maybe I will just start at the first one and run down the line. I know I’ve said this before, but this time, this time, I swear I mean it. My time is really tight now because my new job is trying to kill me with paperwork. Nursing at it’s finest I swear. And I suppose I really really have to go back to school. As usual I find myself to be the least educated person in the crowd. Again. I swear, I keep saying I swear, and FYI for the kiddies out there: School NEVER ends. Love it. Tolerate it. Keep at it. You will be a student forever. Even when you work you still have to keep plugging away at the next big thing.  Or little thing. It doesn’t matter. Forward roll. Oh Geez. As usual, I have run off the thought track and I wanted to, needed to, get some sleep tonight. Like I was saying, about the pictures, I can’t even remember why I took some of these or if I had any idea of what to write, so this should actually be kind of fun. Random. Just like me and my life and my personal beliefs. We live in a random world and I am good with that. Now, what was I talking about again? Butterflies. And flowers. Later.

And This Is Really Showing Off

Again, with the S4. I took it this morning when I was dead heading my flowers that I have somehow managed to bring back to life. Please feel free to click the image so it gets really big, and you can get in there, nice and close, and see all the detail, clarity, and acuity I am working with over here. Using my phone camera. I have to go to work now, but hopefully my son can impress everyone later with the pictures he took with his S4, before we had to replace it. I managed to forward about 10 of the 50 or 60 pics on the camera before it got shut down. I scrolled fast and tried to save the best. We’ll see.

And that’s my first post after all this time??

July 2, 2010 at 7:02 pm (Day to Day, Exercise, P90X, Updates) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Dead flies and a new swatter?? Yes. That is what inspired me to get off my lazy bum and start this up again.

Please excuse the process for a little while and the pictures I will be posting. I am limited, at the moment, to what I take with my phone and pull from facebook. We had a computer malfunction over here and some things were lost. Like my entire I-Tunes/music  library…dramatic pause…

The computer I am working on has been slow anyway, so it needed a re-boot or re-start from scratch or whatever is done to fix these kinds of things. All our data and files and folders and pics and music were on my old hard drive (an ancient, heavy thing that looked like a book). After my last I-Tune purchase and Ipod uploads for all, I smartly backed everything up as I have been doing, but have not done for over a year. That drive was grinding away burning those discs, making all kinds of noise. And wouldn’t you know it? Next time we tried to use it…no good. Dead in the water. Just nothing. No recognition from the computer. In fact, it would shut the computer down and threaten to leave the premises if we didn’t stop trying to make it work. Luckily, I had mentioned this to the BF while we were out and about and we picked up a brand new, credit card hard drive that all the pics and folders got moved to from the computer, but no luck transferring from the old hard drive. Whatever data is there is destined to stay there now. Long story short: The new drive has what could be salvaged off the laptop, the drive was wiped clean and rebooted and the only thing we have on the desktop now is Internet, an empty documents folder and an empty pictures folder.

It’s nice and clean and I like it. But I am a bit worried for my music. It’s technically not gone. (Yet) I have 48 backup discs that are the light. I have 30,000 songs, movies and tv and video and pictures just sitting now. I have to re-install I-Tunes, hook up the new drive, point it in the right direction and start dropping dvd’s, and hope hope hope that all my stuff is there. If not, that’s the breaks right? I may start next week. I’m afraid of the unknown here.

I still have my Ipod, but when it rains it pours and my songs are starting to skip on the playlists. I have had unbelievable good luck with every Ipod purchase I have ever made (alot) and I have the big one. It has gone everywhere with me, everyday, work, school, exercise, rain, cold, heat, car, planes, trains…where I go it goes…for 3 + years, so I’m a little sentimental and I can’t really complain ’cause I’ve heard stories of people that have no luck with them. But, it is what it will be and this seems to be turning into some kind of love letter to an Ipod.I just wanted to explain the picture situation…so if you got all that…there ya go!

Alright, the kids are gone. Kentucky bound. Well, they’re actually already there. They’ve been there for 12 hours now and they have sent me pics. I will be posting those at the top of the page!

That means mommy gets to play for the days now…I am smoothed and lubed and ready to go. That’s not exactly as bad as it sounds…apparently I have scratchy old lady skin (according to the children), soon to be replaced by papery old lady skin if I don’t do something about it NOW. My sissy, their aunty has smooth, soft, supple skin that I FAIL to achieve on any level. Whatever! So, I have taken some personal time today and removed hair and added lotion. (Exercise totally helps when you want to feel good about your body. Strong, clean and lean. What does she mean by that??)

Day 1 of the new skin!

Day 2 of P90X…oh yeah! I am bringing it! But, that’s a whole other post….

Random Pictures Off My Old Phone

December 3, 2009 at 5:00 pm (Phone Camera, Random Images) (, , )

You have to transfer them to the computer BEFORE they cut off the service. Lesson learned from last time this happened…So here’s what we have, all chronological and junk…:

Stevie, getting her hair permed. With curlers. It’s definitely old news considering her hair is pretty much straight again, but she likes to look at herself on the internet!

Flowers I got for sweetest day! I also got candy but I ate it rather quickly and didn’t bother with the photo-op.

Pumpkin seeds I had the kids spend a long time digging out of the pumpkins (that we carved–there are pictures somewhere else on this site–check in october month on the calendar!) and then baked with oil and salt and forever…they were perfect looking…and then sat in the bag for, like 2 weeks, forgotten. Fun to make, not a fav to eat. Maybe next year.

The one and only book, that is not school related, that I managed to read over a 5 week period, from the library. I owe tons of fines, I got scolding letters, and the book is super-hilarious and not hard to read. But, I am lame. Reading is no longer fun. It is a vehicle for information that I have to drive into my brain so that I don’t kill anyone in the future. I highly recommend getting this. And check out her website and show. Pretty funny.

Oh.

I guess that’s it.

Walking to school stuff…

September 11, 2009 at 4:35 pm (Day to Day, Odd Items Walking to School, Phone Camera, Pictures, School News) (, , , , , , , )

A marble. A clear, smooth marble/stone on the street. Walking the kids to school (or bus) is one of my favorite things to do in the world right now. I photo’d it with my blood pressure cuff and scope to remind me of every other moment in my life that isn’t sleeping or driving to and from school. Sorry its blurry. Another telling sign.

Running 55 and Under!

September 11, 2009 at 4:08 pm (Day to Day, Exercise, Phone Camera, Pictures, Scenic 5) (, , , , , , , )

Labor Day Weekend! Scenic 5 (Mile)! We did it! I know it’s been a week but I’ve had school. I’ll always have school…but for now this is about the race.

If you have been following along, I was running five miles fairly easily. In about an hour or less depending on traffic lights. (I said easy–not fast)

So I was pretty confident I could do under an hour, for sure, in the actual race. And I did! And thanks to my running partner, Wayne, I was able to aim for 55 minutes or less. And I got that! My official time was 54 minutes and 32 seconds. I consider that pretty good. I was ninth finisher in my age bracket. I made the top 10! (In my age bracket) (Oh and did I mention that there were only 17 total IN my age bracket…) HAHAHA. I don’t care! It still counts!! I was 304 out of 372. That’s pretty funny too! I was on page 8 of the results. Next year, I’m going for page 7. Oh yeah. High hopes! Small steps! Also, I almost threw up at the end. I really hate when that happens! When I crossed the finish line, I started dry heaving. I felt bad for the nice woman who was trying to give me my finishing medal. She’s reaching out, I’m dry heaving, she’s recoiling in horror…I got it together and was fine in a few. Luckily I never eat before I run. Lucky for all of us. That’s probably enough gross stuff.

Wayne did good too. First race for him, and he ran coming off of surgery and an ankle injury, and I still couldn’t beat him! I was actually slowing him down but he (kindly) said he was speeding me up! True. Thanks Wayney!  He beat me by two minutes! He was on page 7!! Curses!!

Next year. There’s always next year. Here are some photos. Forgot the camera, but I always have my phone.

The line up to start.

Me. I have to laugh at this because my hair makes me look like I'm just speeding across the line like I'm in a movie in slow mo, and really I was just trying not to be sick. Funny.

Wednesday at 10 pm. School is time consuming.

August 26, 2009 at 10:54 pm (Day to Day, Odd Items Walking to School, Phone Camera, Pictures, School News, Shameless Self Promotion, Spoons in the Street) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Just thought I’d throw that out there. For me. And for you.

My dream of “6000 by 6 months” may not be possible. (That would be 6000 hits to this site by my 6 month anniversary of it) The date is approaching–Sept. 17—and I am far behind in the count.

Even if I had enough interesting and web generating things to say…I have no time to say them. Pity for you. My head is full of crap you may never get to know about!

Keep looking here though, tell people, post the site somewhere popular, get creative! I can’t because my brain is on skill mode: Make a bed, give an enema, re-position, give a bath, take the vitals…it’s rougher than I want it to be and I already know how to do this stuff! And don’t forget to study for the written test! Let’s be clear, I am NOT complaining. I love it like this…but my head feels fast-forward.

I bought the schedule book, so now I can waste alot of time writing down things that I need to do in the future, by exact time!

And I need to get off of here. But don’t think I’ll be leaving you empty handed, oh no! There was another party in the street and no one invited us!

Stevie and I thought these items, found along our walk this morning (beside the penny) were quite amusing.

Golf Ball. Ignoring the fact that it's garbage, isn't this a good picture?? Look at the color and detail. I took that with my phone camera! In the rain!

Partied right out of your socks! One anyway. And this is Wednesday.

Last picture. It's another spoon. The detail kind of got washed out by the color, but it's your basic, plastic, white, disposable spoon. This is the second spoon on the street in 2 weeks. I'm smelling a trend...(and a new feature for me)

Chevy Camaro. Trying to look cool…

July 24, 2009 at 11:30 am (Chevy Camaro, Dodge Nemesis, Phone Camera, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , )

Or as I like to refer to it: The Dodge Nemesis

Following me home on Tuesday night.

At the same time, Mason and I said, "What car is that??"

Picture time. It's 1 a.m. so we don't want to flash right into the guys window. But we're slightly crazy.

This is as flashy as I let Mason take the picture.

The required arty-looking-back-in-the-side-view-mirror shot. Buh-Bye!

It was a nice car. Very sleek looking, with nice wheels. Good color too! Not too flashy.

Heaven help me, I might actually be falling for it!

Today was kind of slow and stiff…and not in the good way (sorry)

July 21, 2009 at 2:05 pm (Day to Day, Exercise, Phone Camera, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

The second day is always harder. You’re stiff, you’re sore, you don’t want to be outside…and it was nice and hot and sunny.

The sky was beautiful. I took pictures of the globe we were running in…but those will have to wait. Have something secret to do tonight. So I’ll be back tomorrow.

Know that Mason did good today. He made it all the way around (3.6 miles) and even ran about one of those miles!

And we saw some kind of weird looking frog. Kind of thin and sparkly, brown skin with gold pin stripes and black spots. He could jump far in a single leap. Picture below.

See you all later!
