No F-ing water!!

June 29, 2011 at 12:16 pm (Day to Day) (, , , , , , )

Come On!! Kids and old ladies are home for summer break!! We Stink. Dammit. Can’t flush the toilet either. WTF is my town doing?? Block the roads. Dig a bunch of holes. Turn off the water. Disappear. I swear this city creates accidents for women and children to fall into.

I don’t usually get angry over stuff like this so I better get out of here. Ugh. My hair is sooo greasy though. Yuk! I should be thankful right? At least we have electricity. Spoiled Americans.

These pics are of the Fox River at Riverfest a few weekends past. First time we went. Pretty nice. I had been here before but didn’t realize it was the same place until later in the day. Looks different without all the people and vendors and food booths.

I just managed to squeak out enough water to soak a washcloth and squeeze it on my head. I also got enough to run the toothbrush across my teeth. So I guess I can shut up now. Besides all these pictures are making me have to pee.

And last, but not least, all the way from summer…

December 3, 2009 at 5:44 pm (Day to Day, Exercise, Phone Camera, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , )

The pictures I took of all those cool powerlines about 4 months ago, before my life became all about the nursing program. (I’m still in it, in fact I should be reading right now–test on Monday–nutrition, of course, everything else except vitamins, so it shouldn’t be too difficult—and I am coming out to the last two weeks here. Clinical is over for now. Skills are done. Just: Test. Lab Final. Course Final. Off track…) Anyhoo, power lines, bike rides, long long bike rides…check it here to read all about it

But these are them. Enjoy. I can still feel the tingle looking at them now. Good times.

Riding up to them. Looks pretty impressive. I was kind of in awe. There's something about all that power in one place that can kill you.

Ground to sky is ok but not nearly as cool as looking all the way up.

Doesn't that just make you want to find power lines and climb up them? No, well since the weather just turned massively ugly here...cold, blustery, overcast, with flakes of snow (NOOOO!!!!), this makes me want summer back.

The picture I love the most! I like the color and the angle...it was hard to tell if it came out because the day was really bright and I couldn't see to take the pic or to look at it after. Check out the plane flying across. And the moon. If I remember correctly the day was about to turn stormy. Captured forever.

Don’t Read TIME Magazine!!

August 1, 2009 at 7:01 pm (Day to Day, Exercise, Pictures) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Or NewsWeek, or any of the other kind of magazines that make you think about the world and problems and issues and things that are important to life and living here in America and on Earth. If you do, you will only be sorry. Like me.

I feel bad because I did read the TIME magazine this morning, BB (Before Burrito’s) and before Bike Riding, and it makes the silly stuff I talk about all day seem kind of lame. I should have a point or a view and opinions and controversy. But I don’t. I have ideas. But then I see a colorful bird in a tree or a strange frog on the sidewalk and I forget all about deeper issues.

I really do have a master plan, and I do have some really good life improving ideas, but I need to get through school first so I can start earning the kind of money and hooking up with the right kind of connections to put things in place. Plus, I have to get my kids up and ready for high school. That’s their first step toward all of the rest of the education they are going to be required to have to make any kind of difference in this world.

I bring it up now, because I am going to be posting stuff that I get from the “smart” mags along with the usual crap I get from the internet and the gossip mags my brain absorbs like a dried up jellyfish. Plus, I may be suffering some kind of post-exercise-nature-beauty-world-love withdrawal, as the coffee and vodka (not together) courses back into my veins and displaces all the healthy-oxygen-clean-pure-blood, but it takes time!

And! I have some International New Features I want to post! The BF’s good friend from work just moved to Germany with her hubby and sent an e-mail and photo’s that are absolutely out of this world, funny and brilliant and real-world people perspective of other places on the globe. And she said I could post it all here!

For now though, here’s my stuff: We rode those bikes, in the rain (it stopped now and then) for 19.2 miles! Once we got out there the actual trail was a bit longer. Took us One hour and 45 minutes. Not bad for ups/downs/traffic/road crossings/the requisite work phone call (BF is on the job) and a stop to take a picture of an old cemetery that was there in the early 1900’s. The sign explains it, but the Forest Preserve acquired the land with the cemetery on it and chose to keep it as it was. History and all. Now you can say the site is educational and we can both feel better.

There were power lines too! Giant, humming, massive towers that were really crackling in the rain. I was so in awe of being that close and riding underneath all of them that I forgot to take any pictures. It’s probably good anyway. I would have pulled my phone  out, aimed it up at the wires and got electrocuted when an arc of electricity shot out and  grabbed the cell killing me on the spot. That would have sucked.

See? No sense of world. Ooooh…power lines. Electricity. Well, without it, we couldn’t type or read this, so….it needs to propped!

Anyway, if we go back tomorrow—which I’d like to—I will get those pics. It is pretty amazing. I know people that live by them don’t necessarily think so, but I don’t have my brains getting fried on a day-to-day basis…or…?? Just kidding. Seriously. I don’t really think brains are getting fried just because of power lines. You don’t need to live by the high wire to get the high if you know what I mean.

Also, in case you were wondering, I think I successfully burned off all the cals from those terrible, but delicious burrito’s. I checked the internet for an exercise calculator and it says I did. Now, what’s for dinner? Let me finish my vodka lemonade and think about it while you look at pictures of  headstones and a sign.

OMG! We are having the problems this week!!

July 24, 2009 at 11:15 am (Day to Day) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Be aware that if you try and fix up the place you live in, AND spend money doing it, you will have to spend even MORE money to fix all the OTHER new things that break while fixing the original broken things.

Electric pole. Downed in the storm/fallen tree limb 5 years ago. Put up a brand new one. Ooops! Old power lines don’t reach anymore! No electricity. Call Com Ed. Yay! New lines!

Phone goes dead. Along with internet. Horrors!! We cannot live without internet! Seriously. What do people do anymore?? Call AT&T. Yay! New lines!

The neighbors must think something weird is going on over here. We’ve had giant service trucks here, coming and going, all week! Crews of manly-men carrying tools and belts and ladders and boxes of mysterious wires and cables and clip things. I personally don’t mind. I’m a sucker for a uniform and a hard hat, so whatever…I’ll go around breaking extra stuff to have utility workers show up here! Kidding. Slightly. But…My house is super-powered now. I got new lines for everything!

Seriously it wasn’t that bad. The service guys were all awesome! They came pretty fast and fixed the probs with no trouble! I have no complaints!

So now I will post the things I wanted to post last night. Missed my desired “hit count” by 2 stinking people! I hate to live and die by internet popularity, but there it is. Thank goodness I’m not an actual celebrity. I might read about myself negatively in a gossip magazine and be depressed! Those people really DO have it rough.

Anyway. We are up and running. (We have plans to go out into the real world for material that I can post during the next week–exciting!–while my kids are gone again on yet another vacation with their daddy. Here’s a hint: Benches of Love. Hmmm??? But we can’t go until Mason cuts all his grasses!! So it’s just me for now). Please enjoy all the useless, dumb things I have to say for the next few hours until my son is done!
