Nice Cell!

October 8, 2012 at 11:40 pm (Employed Posts!, For Mason, For Stevie, For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , , )

Thank you low census Monday and Columbus Day. I get to hang with my kids and they finished all their homework! Then we got to bowl, have dinner, watch movies and football and go to bed way too late when we all have to get up early tomorrow. From one, many. Goodnight all.

Sunday Afternoon With The Manning Brothers

October 7, 2012 at 4:33 pm (Football, For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , , )

NFL. A Crucial Catch. NY Giants and Eli Manning right now. Denver Broncos and Peyton in a few minutes. (Don’t worry Chicago–I’ll flip back and forth to see if the Bears can stay good.) But I’m sad that I had to miss the Pack and Clay today. Major Sad Face. (Or “Turtle Face”, I still need to post a pic of that for the uninitiated. Scroll down to see the new Fathead commercial with Mr. Matthews and then I dare you to post me a comment that says he is not the bomb.) I think I need to invest next year in the NFL Sunday Ticket. Football is good for everyone. It gets my house clean and the laundry done.  My kids have both abandoned me for other weekend activities but at least I don’t have to work tonight! And my sissy just said she is coming by to hang out so I need to wrap this up so I can go chat and start drinking in preparation for Football Night In America! Ha. Just kidding. There won’t be that much chatting. Later.

Cereal For The Cure

October 6, 2012 at 2:04 pm (For Mason, For Stevie, For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , , , )

Saturday morning! No work! Getting another post in for Pink October! Didn’t even realize I had bought the “pink” cereal. So there’s the front.

Here’s the back. This is part of the Save Lids To Save Lives campaign. Yogurt is expanding out to cereal boxes. And other General Mills products. I’m not endorsing any one company, charity organization, or food group. Well maybe the food group. Boxed food is my kind of cooking. Anyway, this is just putting info out into the world. You pick your cause and how you want to contribute.

And since it is Saturday and all my original plans got canceled, I think I might post some other stuff too. For fun. Plus it turned cold on us here in the Midwest. Summer is over. Just like that. Thursday afternoon 82 to Saturday morning 34. I took Mason to football practice and then sat in a quiet house, in the overcast living room, on the big couch in the corner, drinking coffee, reading random written materials and playing games on my phone. It was nice. I think I might go shower now and put on a clean set of comfy clothes and get ready for a night in. The girl is going to a friends house and the boy is going to homecoming. My job is to drive and pick up and take pictures. I will also prob update some of the feature pages to the right there. Every now and then I like to add a new pic or change some wording around. I haven’t posted any street money in awhile, or a NY coffee cup, or even a magazine collection upgrade. I’ve recently added nursing mags to the growing pile of “things I look at every day but never actually read”.

I must also throw in a quick side note of thanks and appreciation to my fabulous and tolerant BF who only complains a little bit at a time and lets me squirrel away crap like this without totally blowing a gasket. I got rid of all the End Of The World clippings today and three magazines so far! (I bought the BF a semi-serious, humorous mix of facts and fun, daily desk calendar counting down the days to the end of the world this year, and he brings them home for me periodically to read. Good material. I have some posts in the hopper dedicated to our last days on Earth. But time really is running out, and at the rate that I post, if the world does end in December, none of this will matter. We will all die never knowing what hilarity I had in store for us! Oh, the humanity!) Anyway…3 mags and the loose papers. This might be the weekend honey! (OCD is a disease. Hoarding is a mental disorder. Don’t judge.)

Alright the day is moving forward. Let me wrap this up and try to go for the record of two posts in a day. After I take care of kid and house business. Until later then, I leave you with my pink kids. They took this pic of themselves just goofing around, but it’s good. They look happy and healthy and it’s one of my favs now.

Friday. Pink And Lazy.

October 5, 2012 at 12:47 pm (For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , , )

Going with the old “stand-by” shots. There is a term for this in TV news and I cannot remember what it is called and I couldn’t find it on the internet.

Help me! If you know it, or want to do something researchy today, find it and comment it to me! It’s the running footage of people or things that plays behind the anchor person on the news when they are reading a story. A story that is general in nature. Like about losing weight, or a new product coming out, or gas prices. They play clips of pictures or video of overweight people walking down the street or someone standing in line or someone pumping gas at a gas station.

This footage has a name! You need to find it while I am at work and let me know!

That’s what this pink day is all about. Now get to work!

Let’s Go With Pink Noise Today

October 4, 2012 at 1:30 pm (For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , )

This is an old T-shirt, from my old job, from an old (?) company, that gave these out for free, and may or may not still be in business. I always liked the shirt. It’s made with good material, has nice size and was very pink at one point but became more tie-dye-pink looking as the years progressed. I like to drag it out when I need to wear pink for such an occasion as this month. When you are in nursing school, representing is always a good thing. Now I am a slave to my scrubs. One color. Not pink. But I can always wear something pink under them! Anyway, it’s today’s picture. Gotta go to work again. Later!

Warriors In Pink

October 3, 2012 at 12:42 pm (Big Animals, For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , )

This is kind of a lazy post today because I am really crunched for time, but it’s not nearly as lazy as the second pink elephant picture I was going to post. Different angle, different pic. That’s my philosophy. I also have some pink sky pics I took last night to throw up here, but those can be for tomorrow in case I can’t find anything cooler today while I am out at work and in the world. I plan on filling in the pink spaces with other stuff too. I have more ideas than just this one “Pink October” thing I am trying to start. But as you all know from reading this blog daily, weekly, whenever the computer skips to it accidentally while you are searching for something else…I have a small problem with consistency and carrying out a theme to the end without getting sidetracked by five or ten other themes. It’s almost happening right now while I am typing. Refocus. I really do have to go. Shower and work. Here’s that elephant picture anyway so I won’t be tempted to use it later. Later!

Pink Feet!

October 2, 2012 at 1:01 pm (For Stevie, For The Cure, Pink October) (, , , )

I hope you don’t mind, my beautiful little girl! This pic reminds me of the pink ribbon.  And I always liked this shot. These are good sturdy feet that will take you far! Be proud of everything that you are and that you will become! I know I am! Have to go work now! XO

Clay Matthews. Greatness. Sharing.

October 1, 2012 at 9:50 pm (Football, Video) (, , , , , )

For as long as Fathead and YouTube let me keep it.

I’m just going to say it. Clay Matthews is the sexiest man in the NFL, right now, at this moment in time. And here is some multi-media posting proof to drive home my point. I put it on Facebook too in case the video doesn’t work. You. Are. Welcome.

Awkward Transition. Back To The Random and Irrelevant. Without Comment If I Can Keep My Yapping Typing Fingers Silent.

September 27, 2012 at 10:45 am (Day to Day, Random Images, Satisfied Face/Turtle Face) (, , , , , , , , )

But see?? I can’t NOT write something. I just made the title longer. I have a disease. And a free space that allows me to say as much or as little as I like. And it’s never “little”. Or less. Every time I really find myself going on and on here, I remember a moment from my other life, when I had an office job, and I had to actually type memo’s and e-mails and crap (so missed sometimes that I can’t even believe I ever wanted to have a different job, like, a specific kind of job, that you could put on a coffee cup—you know, those mugs that have sayings on them that kids buy for their parents on Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, “I Love A Nurse” or “#1 Nurse”—what a load of horse crap! I miss the train. I miss sitting on my butt for most of the day. It’s true I guess, we are never satisfied. Poopy American ideology. Digressing…running off the rails here…I think this is enough extra thinking for a parenthesis. Even my side thoughts are ridiculous. Did you even remember we were in a parenthesis? Why do I want to keep typing the word “parenthesis”??) Anyway…old job…memo’s…e-mail…I had to write them…and I sent out some really big, long thing and one of the receivers sent me back a critique of the e-mail/memo, without actually commenting on the content, that I should try and keep it short, and with bullet points, because no one is interested in reading a novel about kitchen supplies or office equipment. Good observation and helpful feedback (this is what the bosses call “constructive criticism” I believe) but some times, some things, require a long worded paragraph or five, to get to the meat of the matter.

This particular post today though, is not one of those times. This is just me with too much time (and an apparently super-functioning italics key) (more parenthesis) (sick I tell ya!) and no good way to transition from touching family post to a giant pink elephant wearing glasses. I have given up on any kind of theme to this blog (that description word is for my cousin Lorraine–blog–yucky word–we need to invent a new word to call this ridiculousness) or any kind of continuity. It will just be random, as usual. Back to the business of silliness and bird pictures.

Andrew is still out there saving the world one push-up and airplane jump at a time, and I am staying at ground level, typing and entertaining, with the occasional nursing care interventions and strategies thrown in, that I have to call my job now. We all got our thing going here. The world keeps spinning. Time is a ticking. Think global. Act local. That’s the theme I guess over all. The world is bigger than one person. Really too big for one person. You have to have back-up. And a place in the scheme of things. Or at least the desire to have a place. And a good plan to get you there. The bigger picture is waiting. Draw yourself in any way you can.

Well, that kind of worked out all on its own. Not a bad way to wrap this up.

Hmmm. Satisfied face. (Stevie, that’s for you.) “Turtle Face” if you watch New Girl. (Nick makes “the face” all the time. I will find a good picture and post it asap. It’s funny. You probably make the face all the time in your life too and don’t even realize it. Once you become “aware” you can never go back. Fair warning.) And if you already know what I’m talking about, give me a shout out. In fact, send me a pic of that face, of yourself, a friend, a stranger, or anywhere else you see it. Hmmm. Double satisfied face. I feel a new category coming on…an exciting new feature to head into winter with…a theme if you will…I will stop now….

So there you have it. Without comment. Later.
