Speaking of aches and pains….

I think I found the way to fix MY pain! Start small and go big or big to small, it doesn’t really matter. By the time you get done with all three you won’t care how many bones are broken in your body. Guaranteed.

Ha. Kidding! (not) I just wanted to put this pic somewhere. This is for my cuz.

Weather: GORGEOUS today! And yesterday and apparently it will be for the whole week! 100 by Friday!! Sunny and HOT!

Status of my personal aches and pains: Not too bad!! Joints are good. No fatigue. I can walk just fine (with the right foot wear). However, I put a bowling shoe on last week. It hurt. I have been trying to run. It hurt. I push through though, because that’s what we do.

On the bright side, with my new medicine (see above) it’s like I have NO limitations! Dr. PehPays magic elixir really works with very few side effects. In fact,  as a bonus, since I started my prescription, I am now FUNNIER and I can SING!! Flu and Vitamin D—Milk and Sunshine as the Cure—My 2 Cents

I am not a doctor, or any kind of health professional. So this is all opinion with news and some research mixed in.
Those headlines above are  from WebMD about colds and flu. Just like everyone else, the Swine Flu is at the top of the news. As I was sifting thru all the articles and posts and news stories, I noticed a few about Vitamin D.
Searching and reading and summing up: The medical community is now studying the effects of Vitamin D to prevent cold/flu and possibly cure you quicker when you do get either.
I can support this and agree totally.

Every year my kids and I drive to Florida over winter break. We leave sick as dogs. Colds. Flu. Antibiotics. By the time we get there 2 days later, all the symptoms are gone. It has always seemed extremely odd to me. I never imagined that Vitamin D, via the SUN, would cure us. But that is what the experts are starting to think.
I’m not saying that it IS the cure, but maybe it does help. It is quite coincidental now that it’s been pointed out to me.
And it could be just that the cold/flu had run its course and we would have gotten better anyway. But I don’t know. It seems like around this time of year, in this corner of the world, you are sick for a LONG time. It just drags…but 2 days of driving…out of Germacago and we’re better!
This isn’t medicine that can be used at any time. Leaving town for a few days or weeks is not really viable for most of us.
But the other part of the news is that the Vitamin D in milk is said to be also helpful for preventing cold/flu.


I can believe this too because my son gets sick every Spring…really bad with respiratory problems and everything. Usually we cut out dairy right away so he doesn’t get too stuffed up. This year though, both kids have been eating cereal with milk almost every single day for breakfast, plus, extra glasses of milk.  Even after they both got sick with sore throats and coughs they didn’t stop eating the cereal or drinking the milk. The cold/flu did not seem as bad and it never progressed past that.
Again, coincidental; they might have just got better on their own anyway. But from now on: Milk and Sunshine. That’s all we need.
Obviously the Swine Flu is much more serious, and I don’t mean to sound light. I hope that we avoid any kind of epidemic, but any extra info on preventing an initial illness will help keep you strong to fight off the big one if it comes. So if you can, get out into some sun and try milk or Vitamin D rich foods, like salmon, tuna and eggs.
Having a Cold versus having the Flu, get confused for each other all the time. So why take a chance on getting either? Precaution is key.
Here’s the basics just one more time:

* Wash your hands often with soap and water.
*Hand sanitizer.
*Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
*Wipe down surfaces you think might have come into contact with someone sick.
* Cover your mouth when you cough.
* Avoid any sick people, if possible.
*If you, yourself are sick, stay away from the rest of us. Stay home (if you can) until you feel better so you don’t infect anyone else.
*If you have to be out, show care in coughing, sneezing and dripping. Use tissues and dispose of them properly. Try not to spread more than you absolutely have to.
*Wear a face mask.
